Asia Cup 2025 favourites and defending champions India won a ninth title when they defeated Pakistan in the final in Dubai by 5 wickets. Set a target of 147 by Pakistan, they won with two balls to spare. Tilak Varma top-scored with 69 not out. It was the first time the two teams were meeting in the Asia Cup summit clash and the Men in Blue triumphed over their rivals. It was the third meeting between the two sides in the last two weeks.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 146. They collapsed from 113/1 as nine wickets fell for 33. India's best bowler was Kuldeep Yadav with 4/30. This meant India finished Asia Cup 2025 unbeaten with seven wins out of seven games. Pakistan played seven and won four. All their losses came against India. India have won 24 of their last 27 T20Is since winning the T20 World Cup last year. Also, they have won 42 out of their 47 T20Is. Winning Asia Cup 2025 is the first step in India’s preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

India Create History in Asia Cup 2025 Final
The Men in Blue were in trouble at one point on 20/3 after the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill fell cheaply. But Tilak, Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33) fought back. Rinku Singh, who was playing his first game in Asia Cup 2025 because of Hardik Pandya's injury, hit the winning boundary off the only ball he faced in the tournament. India are also the first to win two Asia Cup titles in the T20I format. They were the first to win one in the T20I format when MS Dhoni’s boys lifted the 2016 trophy. Now Suryakumar Yadav’s Men in Blue have done the same. Pakistan’s title drought continues as they last won in 2012 and have never won it in the shortest format.
India’s domination in the Asia Cup also continued vs Pakistan. This was India’s 13th win in 22 outings and also their fifth victory in six T20I games. Overall, this was India’s 13th win in 16 T20Is, eighth win in the last nine international face-offs. Pakistan have not beaten India in any format since 2022.

India Favourites to Win T20 World Cup 2026
It took 17 editions and 41 years for the first India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final to happen and it was India that stood tall. India aim to retain the T20 World Cup when they host it in 2026. They have taken the first step in preparing for it by winning the Asia Cup 2025.
Suryakumar Yadav is leading a champions side that has proved why it is a class apart. Pakistan have a lot of retrospection to do as India continue their rampage in the T20I format.
