In a shocking incident, a 32-year old woman, K.Rekha, was stabbed at least 11 times by her husband in front of their daughter at the Sunkadakatte bus stand in Bengaluru. As per a TOI report, the victim's parents live in Channarayapatna in Hassan and the couple got married three months ago and lived in a rented house in Kebehalli. Rekha has two daughters aged 12 and 9, the younger daughter lives with the woman’s parents.
This is the second marriage for both Rekha and her husband Lohitashwa, a cab driver who hails from Sira in Tumakuru district. Rekha worked in a call centre at Tavarekere, Magadi Road and had recommended Lohitashwa for a job at the same office where he was already working as a cab driver as per a report by TOI.
According to a PTI report, the couple used to quarrel frequently and on the day of incident Rekha had left the house with her elder daughter after fighting and was standing at the bus stop. Lohitashwa also reached the spot and resumed fighting and abusing her loudly. He then took out a knife and stabbed her several times in the chest and stomach.
The elder daughter tried to save her mother but in vain and before the bystanders could intervene, Lohitashwa fled the spot leaving Rekha bleeding profusely at the spot. The woman was rushed to a private hospital where she died. A police officer told TOI that the body had at least 11 stab wounds.
The 12 year old told the police that she only knew that the couple used to fight frequently over some issue. The police said that their daughter who is a prime witness in the case will be taken to counselling before they can ask her more questions, as per TOI report.
A murder case has been registered at the Kamakshipalya police station, police said, adding that efforts are being taken to nab the suspect, who is at large.
