Palghar, Maharashtra: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate has seized mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹13.90 lakh and recovered ₹17 lakh in cash, leading to the arrest of three individuals.
The operation was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Cell on July 11, 2025, at approximately 3:55 am. Acting on intelligence, the team intercepted an individual near the Agarwal Complex, opposite McDonald's, in Manikpur, Vasai. During the apprehension, 69.5 grams of mephedrone, valued at ₹13,90,000, was seized from the suspect.
A case was immediately registered at Manikpur Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the individual was arrested.
Further investigation by the Anti-Narcotics Cell revealed the involvement of two more individuals who were supplying the mephedrone. Police teams tracked them down and took them into custody from Nalasopara (East).
During the apprehension of one of these individuals, a sum of ₹17,00,000 in cash was found in his possession. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that this cash was proceeds from drug dealing activities.
