The Shahjahanpur district administration has ordered the immediate demolition of 855 structurally unsafe buildings in government-run basic education schools across the district. District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh issued the directive during a meeting with officials from the Basic Education Department.
He emphasized that the demolition of these dilapidated structures is to be treated as a priority and carried out swiftly. “These buildings pose a serious threat to the safety of students and staff. Their immediate dismantling is not just necessary, it is non-negotiable,” the District Magistrate said while addressing the meeting.

The District Magistrate also directed the District Basic Education Officer (DBEO) to ensure that no academic activities are taking place in any of these unsafe buildings.
He further instructed that a written certificate confirming the non-use of these structures for classes must be obtained from all Block Education Officers.
The administration has assured that alternative arrangements for classes will be made where necessary to ensure minimal disruption to students’ education.
