Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes the club should give Ruben Amorim three years to impart his vision on the Red Devils. Amorim, 40, arrived at the club in November but already appears to be under pressure.
The Portuguese manager had a reputation for being one of the brightest young managers in Europe when he replacedthe sacked Erik ten Hag. However, his time at the club has only bought eight Premier League victories in 31 matches, in which three were against relegated Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town.
United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently flew into Manchester to inform Amorim he needs to qualify for European football if he wants to hold onto his job. Despite the poor results under his reign, Robson, who won two Premier League titles while playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, believes Amorim needs three years to succeed at the club.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Robson said: "We have changed managers that many times (since 2013), I feel you have to stick and say, 'No, we are not sacking the manager. We are not blaming.’
"When you have a little bit of money and the club are going to allow you to change your squad, you need three years to get the team right. For me three years at Manchester United should be enough.
"Look at the money we spend. It's up to you to go around the world and get top players who are going to improve you.”
Since Ferguson left the club, the manager who enjoyed the longest reign was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who oversaw the Red Devils from December 2018 to November 2021. Amorim has only overseen 31 Premier League matches but has already lost 16 matches.

Their 3-0 away defeat to Manchester City was also damning, as Pep Guardiola's side were far from their best. United spent big money this season bringing Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens to the club for more than £200m.
Only Mbeumo has found the net for the new United attackers, who are yet to find their feet on the red side of Manchester. While many issues have been dumped at the manager's door, Robson also believes too many of their signings have not been ready to compete in the Premier League.
The former midfielder added: "The other thing I think we went away from is getting good experienced Premier League players. So when they get to 28, you bring them on board if you can.
"There have been loads of players who have left clubs. I think five years ago, some of the players we bought were just not good enough to be Manchester United players.
"It's an accumulation of that. When I was in management, I believed that if you bought average players you got an average team."
United play host to Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, September 21, in a game which could leave the Reds' hopes of European football in danger.
