Sunday Brunch's Simon Rimmer had to step in and say sorry after his co-host Tim Lovejoy attempted a Yorkshire accent.

The pair were chatting to celebrity guest Calum Scott on the latest instalment of the Channel 4 show (September 14) when Tim showed off his less than impressive regional accent, which Simon joked was "dreadful".

The pair were ending their interview with Calum, who is from Yorkshire, by announcing the star's new album, and Tim tried to do it as if he was from Yorkshire.

"New album, Avenoir, is out now on 10th of October," he said in halting tones.

However, his attempt at the dialect didn't go down well in the studio, where there was much laughter.

His co-star Simon then waded in to say: "Morning, Yorkshire... I do apologise for Tim's Northern accent to every single person that is north of Watford. Er..."

He then introduced the next guest, boxer Conor Benn, then returned to the blunder and joked: "Dreadful!"

However, Calum's fans were more focused on the fact the star's new album will be out soon, with several flocking to Sunday Brunch's Instagram account to post about it.

"Waiting for Avenoir," said one, along with a string of fire emojis. Another penned: "We can't wait to have the album in our hands."

"I can't wait to get my copy and listen to it on repeat and see you on tour," said someone else.

Another fan commented: "If only everything was as good as @calumscott & @sundaybrunchc4."

Someone else wished Calum "much success", adding: "I also wish you a nice Sunday with a lot of sunshine in your heart."

"Avenoir is going tb epic!!" predicted another admirer.
