Temperatures are set to plummet in the UK, weather maps suggest. Maps generated by WXCHARTS on September 3 using Met Desk data show that on Tuesday, September 16, at 6am the UK will see temperatures as low as 3C.
The coldest areas, the maps suggest, will be in Scotland and northern England. While in these maps lows are well in the single digit in several parts of the country, Mediterranean Europe can be seen still enjoying warm weather, with some areas in the southern parts of the continent reaching 25C.

Temperature maps suggest that at 6am on September 16, the warmest parts of the UK will be London and the southeast, with the mercury ranging between 14 and 15C. Wales will see between 5C and 7C, while the Midlands will see temperatures range between 8C and 12C, according to the maps.
In Scotland, the coldest temperatures will see lows of 3C in Fort William, the maps suggest. This comes after the UK experienced this year the hottest summer on record. The highest temperature recorded to date for 2025 was 35.8C in Faversham, Kent, on July 1.
The Met Office long-range forecast, looking at the days between September 8 and 17, said: "Much of this period will be unsettled, with low pressure systems likely to dominate the overall pattern.
"This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect much of the UK at times. Some heavy rain or showers are expected in places, most often in the west and north."
It adds that thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds, especially if any deep areas of low pressure develop and affect the UK.
The Met Office continued: "Later in the period, there may be some longer spells of drier weather that develop, especially towards the south, with more in the way of sunshine due to higher pressure.
"Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in any drier, sunnier spells."
