As Coronation Street Debbie Webster's dementia symptoms seem to worsen, so does the concern for those around her as she continues to find herself in tricky situations.
Debbie is a soap legend, played by Sue Devaney, who first made her appearance on our TV screens back in 1984 before her 34-year absence. Since returning to the role and joining the cobble scene again in 2019, she has been at the heart of many juicy storylines.
Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with dementia when she paid a visit to the doctor after experiencing a number of unusual symptoms. For a long time, Debbie decided to keep the news to herself and carried a sense of shame until she recently told her loved ones.
In an upcoming episode, when a hotel guest makes a complaint to Debbie, she bites back rudely, and the shocked guest films the uncomfortable interaction on his phone. Lucky for her, Ryan is able to quickly diffuse the situation and manages to get the guest to delete the footage from his phone but is shocked with Debbie's next move.
As a way of saying thank you to the hotel guest, Debbie goes in to kiss him fully on the lips in a public display of affection that leaves everyone feeling uncomfortable. Afterwards, Ryan chooses to confide in Ronnie, explaining that he's worried about Debbie's dementia worsening, and opens up to him about the kiss.
Meanwhile, she is completely oblivious that Ronnie is reeling. It's only when Debbie spots Carl with a split lip and bruises on his body that she realises something is going on with him and asks how much he needs.
After the incident Ryan delivers a warning to Debbie, explaining that he was only looking out for her, but her next assistant manager may not be quite as understanding of her current health situation. The question is, will Debbie be able to realise that Ryan really does have her best interests at heart?
Previously in 2024 it was announced that Debbie was set to face a dementia storyline that would lead to her character being eventually killed off. Fans anticipate just how long she has left as her symptoms begin to worsen.
