Antler's summer sale has landed, and it includes everything from suitcases and cabin bags to packing cubes and luggage accessories. If you're jetting off with the likes of easyJet, TUI or Jet2 this summer and don't fancy paying for a large hand luggage item or checked suitcase, there's one particularly lucrative cabin bag on sale that could save you money on excess fees.
Measuring 45 x 35 x 20 cm, the Soft Stripe Underseat Cabin Bag is the perfect fit for most airlines' free hand luggage allowance, including easyJet, TUI, Jet2 and British Airways. The only exception to this is Ryanair, where their current free hand luggage size is 40 x 20 x 25cm. Even once the airlines' newer, larger cabin bag allowance comes into play, the Antler bag will still be just a smidge over the allowance of 40 x 30 x 20cm. It will work as Priority luggage with the Irish airline, provided you're willing to pay the minimum charge of £6.
The Underseat Cabin Bag is a steal at the moment, considering how expensive Antler luggage can be. The bag usually costs £130, but thanks to the sale, it's now half price at £65.
One of the main draws of the bag is undoubtedly its size, which allows it to slot neatly under the front seat. Yet, despite being compact, some shoppers have said they were surprised by how much room they had to pack. One shopper who purchased the suitcase said: "Great case, can fit more in than expected."
The suitcase's body opens to reveal the main packing compartment, which has two straps to secure any items placed there. A shopper said this area "holds plenty" and means the case is overall "the perfect size." For smaller items, there is also a zippable storage compartment on the interior of the lid and a double front pocket. The soft shell of the suitcase exterior also means it offers a little extra space than a hard shell.
There are two inline wheels and an adjustable handle which extends to four different lengths, depending on your preference. There's also a smaller handle on top of the bag to help with lifting. Combined with its lightweight of just 2.2 kg, it's likely to be easy to transport to and from the airport. You can choose from three colours too: black, indigo or green.
For extra security, there is also a built-in lock (a standard for Antler suitcases) that one shopper described as "secure". One of the perks of Antler luggage is that each bag comes with a lifetime warranty, meaning you can stretch the cost for years to come (just make sure to register it online within 30 days of purchase).
While the bag has an impressive 4.8-star customer satisfaction rating, one shopper said: "Only one issue, when moving the zips around the corner of the bag, you sometimes have to manoeuvre carefully or it stops moving."
If you're jetting off this spring or summer, knowing precisely what your airline's free hand luggage allowance is is essential. Otherwise, there's a good chance you could face extra fees at the airport.
easyJet
All passengers are entitled to bring one under-seat cabin bag onboard for free. This must measure no more than 45 x 36 x 20cm (including handles and wheels) and can weigh up to 15kg.
If passengers wish to bring a larger cabin bag measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25cm (including handles and wheels), you have the option to add this to your booking for a fee.
British Airways
British Airways has one of the most generous hand luggage allowances. Passengers are allowed one main cabin bag for free, measuring 56 x 45 x 25cm and one personal item. Bags can weigh up to 23kg.
Jet2
Jet2 and Jet2holidays passengers are afforded the same generous hand luggage allowance as British Airways passengers, included in their ticket price.
Passengers may bring one piece of hand luggage that weighs up to 10 kg and is no larger than 56 x 45 x 25cm. They may also bring a small personal item, such as a laptop bag or handbag.
Ryanair
At present, Ryanair passengers can bring one free personal item onboard. This item can be a handbag or laptop bag and must be no larger than 40 x 20 x 25 cm. However, in the coming weeks, this is due to expand to 40 x 30 x 20cm. If passengers wish to bring a larger bag, they must pay for Priority, which includes a cabin bag measuring 55 x 40 x 20 cm and weighing up to 10kg. Priority also allows passengers to board the aircraft first.
Cabin bags aren't the only items included in the Antler sale. Packing cubes, luggage straps, and large-hold suitcases are also enjoying some decent discounts. I've done some digging to pick just a few of my favourite offers from the Antler summer sale.
