Nigel Farage erupts as 211 migrant in asylum hotels charged with 425 crimes

Nigel Farage has erupted at reports that at least 211 people living in asylum seeker hotels have been charged with criminal offences this year. Court records show that 211 residents in the hotels have been charged with a combined 425 offences.

There were 109 violent offences, 44 sexual offences including four counts of alleged rape, and 63 theft-related offences. The analysis by The Telegraph was based on court records linked to 50 known asylum hotels.

There are more than 200 hotels used to house Channel migrants, with more in private rentals.

However, not every defendant who lists the hotels as their place of resident is necessarily an asylum seeker.

In a post on X, Reform leader Mr Farage said: "The Telegraph reports that at least 211 people living in migrant hotels have been charged with 425 offences so far this year. The true number could be even higher."

It comes after Mr Farage called on the police to release the immigration status of people who are charged with crimes.

The Reform leader said that he "absolutely" believes that information should be made available by police forces.

The Clacton MP and Reform council leader George Finch have claimed there has been a "cover-up" of details about an alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton.

Two men who are reportedly Afghan asylum seekers have been charged in relation to the alleged incident in the Warwickshire town.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper later insisted police should reveal more information about suspects in response to allegations the authorities have tried to "cover up" alleged offences by asylum seekers.
