Prince Harry's reception at the British Embassy in Angola could be an indication of a possible thaw in relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, a royal commentator has said. Although he is now a private citizen and holds no official role within the monarchy, the decision to host him has raised questions.
Richard Palmer noted that Harry "no longer represents the monarchy or the UK" - yet was still given formal diplomatic recognition. Posting on X, he said: "Prince Harry is a private citizen. He no longer represents the monarchy or the UK but the British Embassy gave him a reception in Angola. Is this a sign of thawing between the Sussexes and the British state?" Speaking to GB News, Mr Palmer said while not an official endorsement, the embassy's involvement hinted at an openness to rebuilding fractured ties. It comes amid ongoing speculation about whether Harry is seeking a way back into the royal fold.
